two fish, a hike and a deer

Today we ventured out to McIver park just up the road from our house. We grabbed some burgers on the way, had lunch and went on a little hike/walk. There were several people fishing on the river and as we walked down a trail to the river to see the fishermen, a man caught a huge Stealhead. It was super cool. I think he was very pleased with himself and the fact that we were so impressed as well.

Here's Brody sleeping...do you love his right hand? He held it like that forever!

On our hike/walk we encountered the Clackamas fish hatchery. There were several Salmon there of various sizes. Although these are common I was very impressed. It had been a while since I had seen that many fish in one place. Hatcheries are cool. I felt like I was on a class field trip, being that Brian explained the whole process to me (I guess that fish and wildlife degree is coming in handy!) Brody slept the entire time..he was impressed too!

We packed up and drove up the hwy and stopped at an old boat landing. Brian fished a bit and caught two rainbow trout! Not nearly as impressive as the stealhead but he was just as pleased with himself (as he should be) as the other fishermen. Brody and I watched (kind of.)

We also saw a deer across the river. Can you see it?? I tried to add a circle in "paint" but you can't really see it. The deer is on the bank just to the right of the log in the river....
